Crowns and Bridges

Missing or damaged teeth are more than a cosmetic issue—they can affect your quality of life, oral health, and overall wellness. At Dr. Michael Hoang, DMD, we understand these challenges and offer dental crowns and bridges crafted from the highest quality materials by trusted custom dental labs.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown is a customized covering placed on a broken or damaged tooth to restore its shape, size, and strength. Some reasons Dr. Mike might recommend a crown include:

  • Protect a weak tooth from damage
  • Stabilize a cracked tooth
  • Restore a broken tooth
  • Support a severely worn tooth
  • Strengthen a tooth with a large filling
  • Support dental bridgework
  • Hide an oddly shaped or severely discolored tooth.
  • Restore a dental implant

After a thorough exam and consultation, Dr. Mike will determine if a crown is the right solution for your needs.

Dental Bridges Replace Missing Teeth

A dental bridge fills the gap when you are missing one or two teeth in a row. Dental crowns attached to adjacent healthy teeth on either side of the gap support an artificial tooth or teeth to restore your smile.

Benefits of Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are some of the most common dental restorations dentists use to keep your smile healthy and comfortable.

Dental Crowns Strengthen Teeth

If your tooth breaks or cracks, without a dental crown, the tooth could continue to break down, resulting in the need for an extraction. A dental crown can prolong the life of your tooth and help you maintain your oral health and wellness.

Dental Bridges Replace Teeth

If you have a gap in your smile or you are facing a dental extraction, a dental bridge can complete your smile. A dental bridge also keeps your remaining teeth from drifting into the space left by your missing tooth.

Greater Self-Confidence

Having a healthy, complete smile can make you feel more confident in social and professional settings. With dental crowns and bridges, you can kick back and enjoy your next gathering with friends or coworkers.

The Process of Getting Crowns and Bridges

Getting a crown or bridge involves several steps that occur over two appointments. Before Dr. Mike begins the process, he will answer your questions and explain what to expect so you always feel informed.

First, he will decide if a crown or bridge is right for you. Next, he will numb the treatment area so you are comfortable and feel no pain. Dr. Mike will then carefully shape the tooth by removing some of the enamel so the new restoration fits perfectly.

Using accurate impressions of your tooth, a custom dental lab meticulously crafts your final crown or bridge to our specifications. While the lab creates your final restoration, Dr. Mike places a temporary to protect the prepared teeth.

When your restoration is ready, you will return to our Hawthorne, CA, dental office so Dr. Mike can check it for fit and comfort and securely cement it to the tooth. Your crown or bridge can last 10–15 years or longer with proper care.

By using only the highest quality materials and top custom dental labs, Dr. Mike ensures your restoration matches your smile and provides many years of use.
